What is the best way to do my own bouquets and also to ensure I have the flowers I need for my wedding?

I am doing my own bouquets and centerpieces for the wedding. I did some trial the other night using flowers bought from the grocery store, and they turned out great; however, my wedding is not until July 4th, and I would like to ensure I can get the inexpensive flowers I need ON THE DATE I need them. I would prefer not to buy from a professional florist when I can spend half the money buying them at the grocery store! Does anybody know any good online retailers that will send undecorated flowers to your home? Or does anybody have any OTHER tips that could be useful? Thank you.|||We went the bulk flower route. It went GREAT!

I'm in Michigan and went through a company called Horrocks. They are a produce store. They even made it so the roses were "left out" and in full bloom. Your grocery store could probably work with a wholesaler and get them delivered. They did make the bouquets. On site delivery was $12 and we spent $700 out the door, this included everything......centerpieces, bouquets, coursages etc. You can email me privately for pix.

I would go locally rather than online. I've had some really bad experiences with some online retailers.|||Why not go to Michael's and get silk flowers for everything you need. You can even do yours in silk and they are georgous. But, if you want, do yours in real. A florist can do a bridal boquet very resonable. Depending on the grocery store is not a good idea as you don't know what they will have in stock or their delivery status to depend on.|||I am also getting married in July (28) and my flowers, center pieces and head table flowers are all completely done. We were trying to think of ways to save money and we deceided to go with silk flowers. We bought them at places like AC Moore %26amp; Walmart. And the best thing about it all is I get to keep them forever. If you choose your flowers wisely you'll never know they are fake. And you can do them now and put them away until the wedding. This worked for me because I have one less thing I needed to worry about. The only flowers I need now are for the gentleman, my mother grandmothers etc. . and I'm getting them for an awesome price at Price Chopper. Good Luck and CONGRADULATIONS on the wedding|||There are wholesalers online who will sell you flowers at a bulk rate, you have to do the arranging yourself though. It is a fraction of the cost. Check out freshroses.com or growersbox.com. Good luck!!|||any craft store like michaels usually has a pretty good selection. they also have books there that you can buy to get other ideas. way to go on making them yourself!|||I just got married in April. I bought all of my flowers from a wholesale florist, and I did all the flowers myself too! I got a great deal for everything. If you have a membership to Costco they do flowers in bulk. You can also google "flowers in bulk" and you can order everything online and they can send it to you the day before the wedding and then you can put it all together yourself. You just need to make sure you have a refrigerator to put all of the flowers in because they can wilt and die if they are too hot... I am sure it will be hot July 4th! :o) Good luck with everything! It is extremely stressful and make sure you have LOTS AND LOTS of help to put all the stuff together... I was doing my girls bouquets at midnight the night before my wedding! Feel free to ask for more helpful tips! I have done every cost saving tip alive! ;o)|||The obvious solution would be fake flowers. You'll save money...And time stressing about getting all those arrangements together by the wedding date.|||I've seen freshroses.com get rave reviews.

I would always check with Better bussines bureau to make sure they don't have complaints against them and then check site like theknot.com where people rate their vendors and can tell your what the experience was like.|||www.flowerbud.com/

www.fiftyroses.com/

www.growersbox.com

www.sommerflowers.com

there are hundreds of places that will deliver you flowers.

You dont want to be doing this the morning of your wedding though. I would suggest ordering about 3 days ahead of time since most of the flowers need time to open a bit. Keep them in a cool dark place with lots of water and arrange them the day before your wedding. They will stay fresh.|||some times silks look as nice as the real ones and you don't have to worry about then being over watered or not watered enough plus once the wedding is over you can keep your bouquet looking as beautiful as the wedding day and silks are tons cheaper.

What should I do about this wedding vendor/florist??

I had an appt with a florist to discuss my wedding flowers. I had gone on their www site and selected various FTD arrangments, I read the substitution policy and was cool with that... I made a list of everything I needed the prices on the web/etc.. I even had pages printed off their www site showing the exact bouquet, etc... and the flowers used/etc.... and the price. So I get there and one of the employees tells me that they don't have to honor the prices on the www site that those are just a guideline... I was like um... what do you mean the prices is right there, there is even a place you can order the item online... insert a credit card #. The woman was a bit confused (I even pointed where it had their name on the www site/and www site address).... Another woman who claims she's the owner came over and screamed at me that they will not honor these prices that she pays her designers $20/hr and that this is stealing (to honor the prices she has on her www site)...|||Did you sign a contract with them? I certainly hope not.

If you didn't sign a contract, you have no problem. Find another reputable florist. Ask your friends, family members, and coworkers for recommendations.

If you did sign a contract? I would go ahead and find another florist anyway . . . even if it did mean losing deposit money. Better to lose the deposit money, and go on to find someone who is polite and won't scream at you.

Call 1-800-SEND-FTD and ask them who you would need to contact to complain. That is 1-800-736-3383.

http://www.ftd.com/custserv/contact.epl

Don't cry . . . just take your business someplace else.|||I would not worry about it another minute. Just order flowers from another florist. Even if you can work out the prices with them, they do not deserve your business or your money after that miserable treatment. If you want, you can complain to the better business bureau, but it might not even make a difference. Just tell all your friends not to deal with them.|||I would get in contact with FTD first thing in the morning and then report them to the Better Business Bureau. If it says on their website that they DO honor the prices then they must. If however it doesnt say that then they may be in the right. You can still report them for their customer service. I would find a new florist ASAP.|||Call FTD again, report what was said at the meeting. Then call the BBB and report unfair business practices.

good luck. :)|||i would deff not be going back there..find someone else to do it..thats like false advertising report it to BBB or whatever it is..because thats bull they advertise one thing and then say another..and deff go to another florist..|||For any stores, online prices are often cheaper than those in the physical store.... with clothes, electronics, etc.

However, I suggest you find another florist!|||what i think is ftd.|||Many florists shops all over the country have FTD, Pro-Flowers, etc. on their site as a "representative" of the company. The shop is most likely paying FTD a fee to use their name on their site, shop, etc.

In some places there are actual professional florists in these shops, but other places get the floral arrangements you order from another shop altogether and jack up the cost. Sounds like the latter with you.

But, if you are actually viewing a FTD arrangement, call around to other shops to see if you can get that price. Though most company's prices are cheaper online than in-store orders.

If you have not signed a contract with them, move on.

Advice to all brides: do your research before you get settled on one vendor. Consider at least 3 vendors for each category and just don't depend on a website...actually go to the place of business with a list of questions before you make a decision.

Where can my girlfriend find a floral design school?

My 9th grade girlfriend would like to become a florist when she grows up, and I would like to find her a great floral school, out in public, "not" online. Where can I find one, in roanoke, virginia?|||her best bet would be to approach her local florists. On the job training is wonderful, and there really isn't anything out there that she can do while going to high school.

I would suggest that she take horticulture and floral design in college, backing it up with a managerial associates degree.

wish her good luck|||Go to the best florist in town, Or Find the gayest person in town either one should be able to tell you where to go, scratch the gayest thing most gay people are born with the art of flower arranging|||the best way, is the internet............|||Local community colleges usually offer these flower arranging courses. I need help with possible ideas for flower marketing?

I'm running a florist and the bussiness is doing pretty good. We depend greatly on the internet for online orders and such. I'm trying to think ahead to where we don't have to rely on it so much. I'm trying to open accounts with big coporate offices and try to live of of those accounts. I'm looking for other potential accounts and do not know where to look. Or if there are any other better suggestion on marketing, it'd be really appreciated. Please help me out.|||Now just why the heck would big companies choose to do business with you in the first place? They do not need flowers. They could use them for some special occassions- but if you start calling and selling for that purpose, #1 what other things could you be doing that might be better for you and #2 are you prepared to deal with the massive inventory shifts that come with corporate orders?

Start with DATA about who buys flowers, when, why, and how.|||Business and corporate buildings is a great place to start. Strange places to try - offer a discount to churches (my catholic church has 6 new arrangements every week) if you can offer them descent pricing, they may use you exclusively and that's money every week you can count on. Also, funeral homes - again, if you offer them some kind of deal they will use you or you can give them special benefits for recommending you to funeral attendants. (people that come from out of town and need to buy flowers will rely on the funeral home to recommend someone). Hotels, spas, and salons also always have fresh arrangements. Wedding shops, you could even pair up with a couple of wedding coordinators (they will use you if they can rely on quality workmanship time after time).Hope these ideas get you started.

Does anyone know of any reputable flower companies online?

Upon considering everything, I have decided that ordering wholesale flowers online will be cheaper than consulting a florist to do all the work. I love to DIY, so I have decided that I will work on creating some of the arrangements for my wedding ceremony. What would be a good website to order wholesale flowers online? I have a few concerns though:

1. Is the company is reputable?

2. Quality of the products

3. Quality of the service.

If anyone has ever ordered flowers online please inform me of your experience.|||I am a wedding consultant and we have used this website for a couple low-budget weddings. We have has very good experiences with them. The flowers arrived a couple days before the event and were fresh and beautiful.|||I just read on another post that costco actually does flowers.|||i am using http://onlinewholesaleflower.com

They have very good price and dont charge for shipping. That is always a plus :)|||Costco-I've only heard good things about their flowers and service and they are rather inexpensive.|||I had great luck with www.theflowerexchange.com. I did my own flowers for my wedding and ordered them from this company. I ordered calla lilies and Oriental lilies for the main flowers and them some other filler flowers. The flowers lasted well over two weeks. They were absolutely stunning. Service was great. I was so pleased that for Thanksgiving dinner this year, I ordered a bunch more flowers. I cannot say enough great things about them.

Good luck!|||sam's club.com

That's what I'm going to use for my wedding.|||Hi Heather:

I used this site: www.rosesource.com for my son's wedding. They sell ALL types of flowers, not just roses.

http://www.rosesource.com/

Yes, this company is reputable. You can see my testimonial signed "Gail B." on their site.

The only thing....research and know what you are getting into before you decide this! I would not suggest for you to make up complex arrangements/bouquets unless you have LOTS of help. Also....when is your wedding? What time of year? My son's was in the summer and we have an air conditioned house, so it all worked out. They caution you NOT to put the flowers into regular refrigerators.....just keep them cool. Also, since these are fresh flowers, you will need to have them delivered 2 days before the wedding....then do all the arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres the day BEFORE your wedding. It it LOTS of work! But, again, well worth it also!

I ordered 250 roses, which would have cost me $1,000 and I only paid (in 2006) $160!! Cheap! I did not do up bouquets, etc. I only used them for table arrangements for the rehearsal dinner, reception, church, cake table, etc.

Good luck!|||I like oconners in GA ... they were nice and could match you to what you want..

http://www.connerflorist.com/|||I received roses from a friend last Valentine's day and they came from ProFlowers.com.

I can not recommend them as the flowers appeared to be already dying as I took them out of the box. I had to start removing the unsightly ones the very next day and most were gone within 5 days.|||1800flowers, been using them over a year, no problems
